UPDATE – Driver charged with manslaughter

Police have charged 41-year-old Regents Park man Trevor William Galbraith with two counts of manslaughter following the deaths of a father and his young son in Regents Park on Sunday.

Galbraith was taken into custody at the scene after his white ute struck a 33-year-old man and his 4-year-old son on Green Road just after 11.15am. Both victims, from Crestmead, died at the scene.

The matter was briefly mentioned in Beenleigh Magistrates Court earlier today, where Galbraith did not appear. He was remanded in custody and the case was adjourned until October 20.

Police are continuing to appeal for dashcam vision or information from anyone who saw the ute in the lead-up to the crash.

LOGAN, QLD
A man and a child have died after being struck by a vehicle in Logan, south of Brisbane, on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to Green Road in Regents Park around 11.15am, following reports of a collision involving a white LDV dual cab utility and two pedestrians.

Police confirmed a 33-year-old man and a 4-year-old boy, both from Crestmead, died at the scene. The pair were known to each other.

The 41-year-old driver of the ute, from Regents Park, was taken into custody at the scene and is assisting police with their investigation. The Forensic Crash Unit is examining the circumstances surrounding the incident and has appealed for witnesses or dashcam footage.

This tragedy comes less than 12 hours after a separate fatal crash in the Logan region. Around 10pm on Saturday, a utility vehicle rolled onto its side on New Beith Road at Greenbank. The 31-year-old male driver died at the scene, while two passengers were taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities are urging motorists to remain vigilant, particularly in suburban areas, and to report any instances of dangerous driving.
